I’m pleased to let you know that I’m supporting a new initiative called the National Showcase.  The Showcase gives small businesses in Canberra the chance to apply to have their products sold in the Parliament Shop at Australian Parliament House.

The National Showcase initiative is helping Aussie designers and makers by shining a light on some of the wonderful local products being made right here in the ACT.

The initiative represents an exciting opportunity for businesses to build a broader client base and enhance awareness of the quality products that are made locally.

Australian Parliament House is a major tourist destination with around 750,000 domestic and overseas visitors each year.

Products will be selected after a competitive process based on a range of criteria such as:

  • appropriateness for the Parliament Shop
  • design excellence
  • ethical and sustainable practices
  • whether the products are Australian made
  • size of the producer.

The Department of Parliamentary Services is responsible for the Parliament House Shop National Showcase initiative and for the selection of the products chosen to be featured as part of the program.

Applications for ACT small businesses are open now.
