MEDICARE MENTAL HEALTH CENTRE NOW OPEN IN CANBERRA

 

The community in Canberra now has access to free, walk-in mental health care and support at the Medicare Mental Health Centre.

 

The centre is located at Ground Floor, 14 Childers Street, Canberra and is open from Monday, Wednesday & Friday – 8.30am to 4.30pm and Tuesday &Thursday – 8.30am to 6.30pm. It will provide immediate support for anyone who needs mental health advice or care as well as support for those in distress.

 

The Medicare Mental Health Centres are supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and peer support workers.

 

The Albanese Labor Government is rolling out 61 Medicare Mental Health Centres across the country. There are 31 Medicare Mental Health Centres open across Australia including the centre in Canberra.

 

To ensure every centre can provide access to specialist care, the Australian Government is investing an additional $29.9 million so that every centre has a psychologist and psychiatrist on call.
